Security

The security and safety of your personal and confidential information is of highest priority to us. Please rest assured this website has adopted physical and technological processes through our third party vendors to keep your personal information safe and secure. The personal information you provide when you register online or make an online donation is secured using Secure Socket Layers ("SSL") encryption technology. This SSL technology prevents such information from being intercepted and read as it is transmitted over the Internet to secure servers.

Use of third party on-line portals provides the highest level of e-commerce security in order to protect your credit or debit card information at every step of the donation process. In partnership with our vendors, all of our online vendors must use encrypted technology to safeguard your information. All of our vendors use industry standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology that encrypts all of your personal information, including card details, so that it cannot be read as it travels over the Internet.

This technology ensures that making donations to charity is secure. In fact, you run a far greater risk of becoming a victim of credit-card fraud by giving your card details to an unknown person over the telephone than by making an Internet payment using SSL

This is what happens when you donate online using our vendors SSL encryption technology:

  1. Our Secure Server and your browser exchange "digital keys".
  2. The secure online donation form is displayed.
  3. After you have filled in the secure form, your browser encrypts the information.
  4. The encrypted message is sent to a Secure Server.
  5. Only your browser and the Secure Server have the "digital keys" needed to decrypt the message.
  6. The Secure Server decrypts the message and stores the information in the secure database.
  7. All credit and debit card processing is done from the secure database.
  8. At no point is your payment information sent via email or any other non-secure method.
  9. Your donation, email address, and card information remain completely private at all times. Only your name and address details are passed on to the Long Beach AIDS Foundation. For further information, please read our privacy policy.

Please keep your password secret and contact us if you become aware of any breach of security.

All information collected as a result of online registrations and/or online donations is owned and controlled by The Long Beach AIDS Foundation. This information is only accessible by those employed or specifically authorized by us to operate this website. Unless a recurring monthly gift is specifically authorized, no credit card information is ever stored by this site and therefore is not viewable by anyone before or after an online donation is made. For recurring monthly gifts, credit card information is stored but is encrypted to protect you from unauthorized use.

Additional Vendors:

The Long Beach AIDS Foundation uses several vendors in order to implement the fundraising efficiencies and tools in order to keep our cost of fundraising at a minimum.  In order to maximize returns, the Long Beach AIDS Foundation uses the services of other additional online payment vendors such as Paypal.com, Auctionpay.com and Active.com.  All of our online payment vendors are required to use SSL encryption technology to do business with the Long Beach AIDS Foundation.  Please click on these links to review their respective Security Policies.
